# OpenSwissData

> Normalised copies of Swiss federal reference data: the Swiss customs tariff (TARES, 8-digit Swiss tariff numbers with MFN duty, preferential regimes and restrictions), the FINMA register of supervised financial institutions plus the FINMA warnings list, and correspondences between the NOGA 2008/2025, NACE 2.0/2.1 and ISIC 4 activity classifications. Free to query from AI agents over MCP, without a key or sign-up. Full datasets are sold as signed files.

The data is an unofficial copy. Each result names its source; binding decisions belong to the official sources (xtares.admin.ch for customs, finma.ch for supervision, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office for NOGA).

## Use it from an AI agent (free, no key)

- MCP endpoint (Streamable HTTP, JSON responses): `https://mcp.openswissdata.com/jsonrpc`
- Limit without a key: 100 calls per hour per IP address. Each message of a JSON-RPC batch counts as one call.
- Browser calls are allowed (CORS, any origin, no cookies), so agents running in a web page can use the endpoint directly.

## Free tools

- `tariff_lookup` — Swiss customs tariff (TARES). Arguments: `hs8` = an 8-digit Swiss tariff number (dots allowed, e.g. `8471.3000`) for the full line: designations in French, German, Italian and English, MFN duty, preferential regimes, restrictions, customs relief codes; or a 2- to 7-digit HS prefix (e.g. the international HS6 code `847130`) to list the Swiss 8-digit lines under it. Optional `lang`: `fr`, `de`, `it` or `en`.
- `kyc_check` — search the FINMA register of supervised institutions and the FINMA warnings list by name. Argument: `name` (full name or a distinctive part).
- `cross_walk` — map an activity code between `NOGA_2008`, `NOGA_2025`, `NACE_2.0`, `NACE_2.1` and `ISIC_4`, with the relation type (exact or approximate) and its source. Arguments: `code`, `source`, `target`.

Free trial without a key: `tariff_semantic_search` (TARES lines from a description of the goods in French, German, Italian or English), `classify_text` (NOGA 2025 codes from a business activity description) and `finma_search` (FINMA register search tolerant of typos and legal forms) can be called 20 times per day per IP address in total, in a 24-hour window opened by the first trial call, and each trial answer states the calls left and the official source on which to check the result (xtares.admin.ch, the official FINMA register, the NOGA publications of the Swiss Federal Statistical Office).

The change history tools (`tariff_changelog`, `entity_history`) belong to the Pro plan, which is closed to new subscribers at the moment.

## Datasets sold as files

One-off payments in CHF, no automatic renewal, 360 days of updates included. Each archive carries an Ed25519-signed manifest and SHA-256 checksums.
